CCNA Exploration 4 days workshop completed

Saturday, April 26th, 2008

I finally completed consecutive 4 Saturday whole day workshop on CCNA Exploration Part 1.  The venue of the workshop is at Fortress Hill HKU SPACE center.  I am not a Major or Minor in Computer Science.  My knowledge in Networking is only from the courses of the Diploma taken many years ago.

During this workshop, I gained a more comprehensive knowledge of networking.  In addition, I discovered many resources (powerpoint, tools) in teaching ICT in NSS.

Cisco is the major networking company in IT world and they are known to sell expensive equipments.  However, they have put many effort to recreate a excellent curriculum about networking.  The curriculum is carefully planned and very easy and interesting to understand.

Among all, VLSM (variable length subnet mask) and packet tracer is the most valuable I learnt during these weeks.

There will be a final examination in June.  After passing it, I will be a CCNA instructor and eligible to apply local academy for my school.  After that, I can train my student to become CCNA professional.

CCNA

In order to cope with the new NSS syllabus of ICT, I have joined an updated course on networking provided by HKU SPACE. It consists of 1 briefing session and 4 whole day training sessions. There will be an examination after the training sessions. After passing the examination, I become a trainer of CCNA.

As the curriculum of CCNA has changed, the course I am studying is exploration. Today is the first sessions and the content was only introduction. The only valuable information I have obtained is about a very useful software (packet tracer) for learning and teaching networking.
